But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

more power to him! if that's his girlfriend in the picture i'd say he probably doesn't suffer a lack of confidence.

I can't find where the story picks up.  Why would they use a pdf for something like this? So somebody tell me;  did he and the bike both make it?

Remove the  .   after the com from Bobby's link, and you get a 12 page .pdf file.  The story is on page 4 and 5.

I didn't read the whole thing, but it looks like he didn't make it.  Stopped at some friends/relatives, changed the oil, forgot to tighten the oil drain plug all the way, the end.  DID manage 7500 miles, though.

PDF files are one of the most widely recognized file types and great for the average user... are you sure you don't just hate slow internet?
PDFs allow for easy zooming and printing among many other options... go try to print the same thing out via an internet browser and I guarantee you won't be as pleased w/ the results.  Think of it as the internet version of WORD without editing capabilities (usually).  This is the perfect use, in my opinion.

now... for crossing the country on a rebel 250?
probably more comfy than either of my bikes but definitely not as fun!
cool read.

To be honest with you I have no idea. While cruising thru pics for the Babe thread I come across a face I like. I save the pic and I crop it since they are all butt naked. Once I put it in the profile I put it in recycle. It is hard work but someone has to do it.  ;D

From the 'Shorpy' website comes this...

"Dick O'Brien and Bud Baker were two "Washington high school boys" who made a five-month, 10,000-mile round trip to the West Coast to see the California expositions".

Here's the link to a larger version of this photo.. http://www.shorpy.com/node/4999?size=_original
(Hint: it's an old Indian)

It's a great website btw if you like old photos.  http://www.shorpy.com/
