medical marijuana states
« on: May 01, 2009, 07:47:02 PM »
who here lives in a state that allows medical pot?  do you or anyone you know make use of the legality of it? i ask because i am very seriously considering a move to michigan, and half the reason is for just that. i have had to stop taking my narcotic pain killers and i dont want to run afoul of the law to ease my pain. i am thinking michigan as the housing in the upper part of the "thumb" where i'm looking at is as cheap as if not cheaper than here and something i can afford on my ssi disability when it starts.

Colorado is one. Has some VERY liberal areas and some very conservative religious areas but it's still legal across the state if you get on the registry. Don't know details. Apparently there are some "dispensaries" but not many.

it's pretty conservative around here as well.... however....

a friend of a friend is on the program.....

can't smoke pot or otherwise due to respiratory issues.....

gets pot butter instead and cooks with it.

probably makes some awesome brownies.

Not sure about the laws in MI, but there is a guy on Island here who grows for the BC government.
Ive tried his stuff and my shoulder didn't hurt anymore ;D

I still like my ocean/bluff bud, but in a pinch ;D

Here is a link to the 13 States with laws on the books that favour Medical use.

what are costs of living like in your areas? i'll be subsisting on around 825 bucks a month disability and whatever part time job i might be able to get. i'll likely have to buy a house too since not many folks are going to rent to someone with 7 cats  ;D

born and raised in new england, connecticut and way northern vermont. seems like lots of folks think theres manners ALL over the south. i'm here to tell you, hartford is friendlier than columbia sc for the most part. i've been in the southeast for 20 years now and i've had enough. winters? 1987-1989 i lived in greensboro vermont, halfway between hardwick and craftsbury. THAT was winter weather. in a way, i kind of miss it. too bad new england is so damn expensive now.

I'm sure MI rental or house costs will be less than the West Coast, but how can you argue with this......

I lived in Portlland for twelve years and you can get by there on the cheap, the cycle scene is good and the public transportation is kick ass.I don't think you would be able to buy a house or rent a single family type dwelling in Portland on that kind of money, unless things have drastically changed in the last year.  Alaska ain't cheap either but our medicine is top notch. 8) ;D  Have you considered Wyoming?

The Governator is saying it's is now time for a discussion on legalizing and taxing pot.  Is this an undercover trial balloon being floated by the Obama administration?  Hold on Fuzzy maybe you won't have to move after all. ;D ;D

i never thought i'd see it even semi-legal in my lifetime. it was always just something we would talk about sitting around the hookah, never seriously thought it would happen.

On my third year as a CA cannabis patient. It is unreal how fast these dispensaries grow. To tell you the truth I don't even leave the house to get it anymore. There is a local guy who delivers to your door for free. Inexpensive and premium buds. I just look at the menu online and call it in. After the Obama administration said that they were respecting the state laws regarding medical marijuana it has been much more peaceful. It was bound to happen. In L.A. there are hash bars like Amsterdam. It beats Friday evening traffic... If you are interested in other states look for forums  ;D

Yep.  Cali is special.  I can walk into a store and buy brownies, cookies, actual plants, ready to smoke bud, cannabis soda pop, etc, etc.

There is a segment that keep airing on cnbc I think called Marijuana ink. americas pot industry. Man if it becomes legal it will for sure end the border drug war crap, thats all they got anyhoo. Keep the faith fuzzy, if they(the gov.) can estimate that they will make between 6.2-6.4 billion a year in tax revenue if legal, and they think about it long enough they will do it.

Not to mention decriminalizing pot. That would help with our huge prison overcrowding problem. I do not see the down side to this. If there is a counter argument... what is it?

Just saw a Zogby poll that 54 to 36% Americans favor making pot legal.  I even heard a local conservative radio talker Jason Lewis arguing for this.  I think the escalating violence in Mexico and the fact that it is spilling over the boarder has been a rude awakening call.  Our leaders are finally understanding that the War on Drugs has been a failure and all it has done is lead to the rise of criminal cartels and gangs that can threaten the stability of entire countries.
