i scrape BOTH sides on my 77 cb750

Dunlop D404

i've put some serious miles and it doesnt seem to be wearing out :) thats a good thing buy the way because i ride this thing hard and put it away wet....

Personally... if you want to scape pegs and fell good about it here is the "secret" formula!

Tappered roller bearings for the tripple tree
Hondaman's swing arms (bronze oil lite bushings)
good condition wheel bearings
new fork oil
new front progressive springs
new rear shocks (anything is better than those LAME stockers... even Parts-N-More shocks are better)

thats basicly what i got on mine and i have NO trouble scraping at all infact my friend said i'm crazy because "back in the day 750's had bad bad bad "teater Totter" ?? in the turns his words were

"those things handle like a pig on stilts"

i seem to think mine handles more like a modern bike than a bike thats 32years old...

I've gone thru dozens of different sets of tires in past 10 years and more than a few CB750's.. Have been VERY satisfied w/ Conti Twins for stock CB750 set-up. Nuetral handling, confidence-inspiring road-feel and braking, good wear, and nice and retro-looking.
For the cafe racer, do yourself a favor and spoon-on some GT501 Dunlops, and you'll never try another set-up. They are recent to the market, and a no-brainer choice for me. try 'em. you'll like 'em.
NEVER mix brands. And NEVER hesitate to treat you and your bike to new PAIR of tires, even if they're not nearly worn-out, new tires make a TREMENDOUS diference and that equates to improved safety, which we can never overdue. Getting a pair instead of 1 at a time is also the smart move. If you think thats a waste of money in todays economy when you still have 50% tread left, consider what it costs to drop your bike because it didn't handle 100%. Saving yourself during one of those hairy-daily times when your tire is less than 1 INCH away from that patch of sand or road shoulder requires no compromise in your bikes response. Some things in life are BEYOND money; FRESH TIRES are the MOVE.
Riding your fav bike w/ new tires on a backroad is the most fun you can have w/ your clothes on.

Prices vary all-over the place but a little googling and you'll get comparisons. Then go to a big outfit like Denis Kirk and they will match any advertised price PLUS undercut it another $5 PLUS free shipping. And they ship faster than anybody w/ huge invetory, no back-order. And have very cute-sounding girls answering phones 24 hours a day. I always flirt w/ them and they really don't mind that and reciprocate if you get a good (bd?) chic on the horn ;D
If I recall I ended up paying right around $200 for a set and they dropped their advertised prices almost $30-40 per tire. 130/90-16 (5.00"), 110/90-19 (3.25")
Ebay has them, too. sometimes real cheap close-outs.
