Air Filter

Any suggestions on cleaning a K&N air filter? I don't want to buy a "cleaning kit", if I don't have to.

I don't know about a kit, but I bought one of their spray bottles with their detergent years ago.  I've cleaned the fillters in the three bikes I have K&N's in several times, along with a few friend's bikes.  There is still some left in there.  Not a big expense.  I suppose other detergents would work, but you can probably count on K&N's product not to damage the gauze in the filter.

If you get that many cleanings out of the kit, I'll go for it . Thanks for the answer.

simple green, purple power, or any type of degreaser from your local auto parts store will work fine.
