un-notify
« on: May 02, 2009, 12:44:15 PM »
does anyone know how I could stop being notified after I post in a thread?
cause sometimes I just get bored with the thread and don't wanna hear about it anymore.

besides removing my post.
everything I say is pure speculation and
I have no idea what I'm talking about  ._.

You can customize your notifications however you want them, or if you don't want them at all.  Just go to your profile and click the link on the left called "Notifications and Email".

eh, what I mean is, when I click "Show new replies to your posts" I get all the threads with new replies, but when I get tired of getting replies on certain posts, there's no way to stop unless I delete my post.

is that right?

in the post you don't wanna see anymore, you should be able to click on the notify tab at the top of the post and disable the notifying for that post.....
Marti, I want you to know, I like you an awful lot, but guys have said far less and left wearing their drinks on their shirts.

Okay, so what you need to do (from the "Unread Posts Since Last Visit" page) is check the box at the far right of the topic you're no longer interested in, then click the link at the top of the list that says "Mark Selected Read".  This will make that thread disappear from the list.

Did you ever find a good solution to this? I made the mistake of posting in a health care thread, and I'm stuck seeing it all the time. I clicked on the notify tab and enabled notification, and I'll see what happens when I disable notification via the email link. I assume it will only stop the emails from coming and leave the thread in the "show new replies to your posts" page, but a guy can dream, right?

As far as I know, if you post in a thread, it will show up in "New Replies.." when you log in. Perhaps Steve or Glenn know a way around it. If not, the only way I know if is to delete your post(s) to the thread, or just bypass it when it comes up, of course you will be doing that over and over each log in.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Does anyone know how I could stop getting a whiskey hangover?

'Cause sometimes I just get tired of having a whiskey hangover all the time and don't wanna have my head throb anymore.

Besides drinking less whiskey, I mean.

Hm...my plan might have worked. The last post I see in the English Health Care thread is by DammitDan at 3:46. We'll see if the thread pops back up for me the next time someone posts.

Nope. Didn't work (thanks, Bob). I'm stuck looking at that thread title until people stop replying to it. My life is so hard.

When I was in Dublin, I learned that the best cure for a hangover (besides drinking less haha. that's just silly) is water, vitamin B and electrolytes. I slam a bunch of water before I go to bed and take some Aleve. the next morning ill eat something like a fastfood breakfast burrito, a bunch of water, take a multi vitamin and a gatoraid. Unless I'm still drunk from the night before, this usually helps immensely.

But yea, new topic post notifications. I couldn't find a solution.

There's a SMF mod that does this but it's not compatible with the 1.1.10 version we seem to be running here.

Compatibility
For SMF 2.0 Beta 3 Public, 2.0 Beta 3.1 (and above)
It will not work for ANY earlier versions.

Ignored Topics will still be shown as usual on the BoardIndex/MessageIndex and the topic itself viewable as normal.
Neither will it affect any notifications.

You will need to enable Quick Moderation to use the feature. (which enables the checkboxes)

o Alters RecentPosts/Recent/UnreadReplies/Unread sections of SMF to enable Ignore Topics

Okay.  You could try not hitting the "Show replies to new posts" button.  I've been here a couple years and have never hit that one.

that's ridiculous. you should try it.

it keeps you from answering any new questions.

I've tried suggesting that before, too.  Never seems to go over too well. ;D  Some folks just get addicted to that function, I guess.  I never really liked it, so I just don't use it.
