Getting the front wheel up?
« on: May 02, 2009, 12:28:43 PM »
No..not a wheely ;D

I have no center stand anymore. Need to get the front wheel up off the floor to get the dual brakes set up. New stainless lines arrived yesterday after "5 WEEKS"!!!! Helusa?

The Yoshi gets seriously in the way to use my bike jack and I really don't want to remove it again and again.

Thoughts?   I'm thinking of hanging it off a beam ::)

Floor jack and a block of wood that covers most of the oil pan. It works on my Wing. Just be easy picking it up.

I have the universal bar....

It works like a center stand...

If I remember it was like $40...

Sorry I don't have a picture.

I've used two ratchet straps thrown over a beam and hooked to the handlebars, it worked great. Best to have a person  stabilize the bike while you get the straps snug.

I have two jacks, works like a charm to lift either end of the bike.

I would be interested in what you have.
P.S. Sorry about the stater/starter issues  ;D

You and your BIG ASS BEAM   ::)  I remember the pics of you all fighting that #$%* into place.  Worth it now, eh?  :)

PS PM me when/if that bolt arrives.  Just wondering if it made it ok.

I think the building inspector was a dick and made me build a smidgen overkill.
He has since been fired!  But I now have a VERY sturdy beam. ;)

I am seriously considering losing the centerstand on the K5.  So I have been eyeballing a few things;

Front stand bobbins. Part # UNI-006 - http://ttr400.com/photo3_1.html
Stands - http://www.discountramps.com/motorcycle-stands.htm
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Hey, i think I SAW that guy with the boat at the swap meet !!

Try this..
get a wood block that is about the height of your lower front motor mount bolt, when bike is on sidestand..(or under the frame rail)

Now slide it against the motor mount, lift bike from sidestand  side & kick a 4x2 under the sidestand. If you got to get a bit higher cut shims of 3/4 plywood, then add 1 side at a time..

Easy to do by yourself.

I can't seem to locate a supply of flat blocks that will fit perfectly just now, and with the minimal room under Yoshi...... It spreads wide across the underside this plan worked out Great.  I do appreciate the knowledge 754. Chopper buddy said the same thing until he got here and saw my predicament and  helped me bleed both new brake lines ;D

Front wheel spins freely and brake is VERY strong with just a slight a finger pull. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm getting there ;)

Not to jack the thread, but what does a center stand weigh? I looked through pages of search results with no luck.

Hate to say it, cuz some urbanites... just dont understand,

but Seaweb should be able to do this...

...find a piece of firewood, about a 6in round (sure those exist out there.. ;) ), and cut to length with a chainsaw..

Urbanite with a chainsaw, an ax, AND a splitting wedge. ;D  I even harvest my own wood across the street all within 2 miles of the center of an urban area of 2.5 million.  We are not all posers sitting in Starbucks sipping lattes. ;D ;D ;D

Hey ..hey.. good onya..

when I still worked in the woods..

I sometimes ran into folk that never even saw a chainsaw in real life!

I met a girl in LA that lived near the McCullough plant, and they would test the saws there, and then give away the firewood.. she said, if not for that she would never have seen one..

How big is yours.. mine  is 89 ccs... maybe time for BigBore.. eh??.. ;D
