CB500 Clutch Cover Removal
« on: May 09, 2009, 11:08:02 AM »
Ok, I give!  What is the trick to removing the clutch cover on a 71 CB500.  I have removed all of the screws but for some reason I cannot break the seal to get the thing off.  I have hit it several times with a rubber mallet.  I don't want to try to pry it with a screwdriver.  Any tricks?

Are you talking about the cable side cover or the actual clutch cover...right side crank case.  If its the right side just use a rubber hammer give it a few taps it should come loose. Keep in mind there are two dowel pins which keep the cover in line.
