My '72 750

     Twenty day's ago I brought home a some what neglected K2, with high rise bars, 4" fork extensions, long speedo, clutch cables, and an extended side stand. Otherwise it was all stock, and in fair condition, with the typical signs of neglect.
     The PO gave me the original side stand, and a set of upper tubes, (he called them springs) that he thought he needed to put the forks back. He was a very nice guy, made sure I knew he had three Harleys, and he and his buddies were all sporting HD hats, boots, and Tee shirts, I was the only one out of uniform. (might be why he wouldn't negotiate).

     Starting with the forks, I got the front end off the ground, and discovered the stem bearings were shot. So I tore it apart, and put in some All Balls, polished the sliders, and put it all back together with some standard bars.
     The left side cover is junk, but I have a repairable replacement. (anyone have a badge to fit?) Otherwise it cleaned up pretty good., (With much aluminum to polish yet.)

     The throttle pull takes a lot of heft, I think the spring at the linkage is too tight, so that's next on my list.
Gonna be a fun bike!

A new throttle cable made a big difference in my K3.


Looks like you got stock pipes... May have been worth a little extra.

Yeah, some HD owners are posing dickbags.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

The stiff throttle turned out to be the return spring after all. The spring on the left was what I removed, it read 15 lbs on the fish scale when I stretched it to the approx. length. The spring on the right, I pulled from a bank of carbs at Western Hills Honda today. It read closer to 5 lbs when stretched. Much better.
