dont suppose you'll be traveling through Columbia SC on your way sam? if so i'd love to buy you a few beers and a pizza. that is if i cant get down to valdosta when youre there.

I looked at it Jeff but if I zig zag all over the place I'll never get to Boston on time.
Do your best to make Valdosta, seeing a bike accelerate from a stand still to 250 mph in less than 6 seconds is awsome and the noise is frightening. :o :o :o

With just a few weeks to go, I'm having problems finding insurance cover for the trip.
I was only intending to make the first half of the trip on the bike and as I travel north and it gets colder, the idea was to rent a van for the final push north.
I have found cover for the bike and medical insurance for myself in the event that I have an accident but I can't find breakdown cover should the bike fail.
I looked at renting a van for the full trip but it runs to £2,000 :o :o :o :o :o
If I can't find breakdown cover, I'm going to have to have a big rehash/think of how I tackle the trip.
Any Ideas guys? I think I asked about breakdown insurance in another thread but I can't find it.

Sam,

Join the AMA and get free roadside recovery - what this means is they will pick you up and take you to the nearest dealer. However, even if your bike does break down (which it most likely wont) then there will always be someone along the route that can help you. I wouldnt worry too much about breakdown insurance (not so common here). As long as you and the vehicle are covered you are good to go.

cheers
Andy

The roadside assistance will be covered from Tampa up to Valdosta.
(The Wife, my pickup truck and trailer)
From there on up I am sure we could get a few of the forum members to come get you if needed.

Besides we are driving 30+ year old motorcycles, what could go wrong?  ;D

I was thinking of renting Rob then drop off in Boston.
Needs to be big enough to get the 750 in, perhaps with the bars turned down a little.
Don't want a big 6 or V8 that dose 12mpg.

if the 94 has a v-6 your mileage would be pretty good, 21mph or better on the highway,
plus you could buy it for less than the cost of rental. BTW, I had a 75 3/4ton with a 350 v8 automatic,
we got around 16mph. What's wrong with that.  ;)

well, just been looking around and all the rentals I've come up with average 15mph. Though it looks like
you could rent from budget truck rental for about $800.

Yes Rob, that's been the price I've seen on the net but trying to organize a booking online is near on imposible.
In respect of your gas milage, well I'm used to 68mpg ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D.
