CB750A starter clutch question
« on: May 05, 2009, 11:03:21 AM »
Bringing a neglected CB750A back to life. Got it cleaned up and carbs rebuilt.

when cranking it periodically makes horrible clanking noises that sound just
like a bad starter clutch on a suzuki I once had.
The gear behind the flywheel has a little wobble in it (which doesn't seem
right)

I've worked on a lot of vintage Suzuki's but few of these old honda's.

questions:
does this sound like a bad starter clutch?

is the starter clutch assy built into the back of the flywheel like the
suzuki's?

is the starter clutch assy on the "A" model the same as on the standard models
of the same year?

any other pertinent advice would be welcome

thx in advance for any help.

IF its the same as a standard 750 No the clutch should not wobble on the rotor as its held on by staked countersunk HT setscrews.
Try looking up the parts at
http://www.motogrid.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/7/default.aspx

Then put the numbers into the look up on the rh sude of the page and see where else they are used
