I have used Honda Parts Direct many, many times without a single problem. I did notice the website was in 'transition" a few weeks ago. I ordered a new pair of DID rims for my CB750 and they arrived within 10 days no problems.

I'll use them again. Their prices are better than my local Honda dealers and most other on line.

Just wanted to bring this thread back.
In late April I ordered a set of left and right handlebar switches for a 73 cb750 from Honda Parts Direct.com
A couple of days later (May 1) I notice the charge on my Visa from H and W Honda Yamaha in Marshall TX.
I know it can sometimes take a month for things to get to Canada from the US but I was wondering if anybody has had problems with these guys (again)?
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

DANG!
I didn't even know they had opened up again. I just placed a big order with another online-er, who has a history of slow shipping, but usually delivers eventually. Hondaparts-direct was always my favorite.

Give them a call: if it is the same people, but just in a new warehouse (or name), they will hopefully be the same good folks. They never dodged a question from me, always gave a straight answer.

Thanks for bringing this up.  :)

I placed an order with a similar company (http://www.hdlparts.com/default.asp) and had no issues. They called me when parts arrived and when they shipped. Got everything in under a week. Their website is just like Honda Parts Direct.

I can second the good experiences with http://www.hdlparts.com/default.asp .  I have ordered several sets of tires, batteries, chrome, etc, from them over the past 6 or 7 years.  Admittedly, all for newer bikes, but service has been nothing but outstanding.  Last set of tires delivered in 5 days.

I don't know you well enough to know of this is cynicism, humorous or genuine, but here is my experience with them as of today.
I ordered parts from Honda Parts Direct.com online on May 1st and found a charge on my card from H & W Honda Yamaha in Marshal TX. I live in Victoria BC Canada and checked the order status last week. Shows the order was shipped to Victoria Alabama and as of May 15, the order was being "reviewed". All of the phone numbers I can find associated with the website are no longer in service and H & W Honda Yamaha doesn't answer the phone.
I filed my claim with VISA, I'll eventually get my money back, but if you're making fun of me for being "duped" know that I would have never heard about these guys were it not for this board.

--update--

I finally got through to someone at H&W Honda and apparently I was one of the first customers to create a profile before their website was completely live. The guy said they don't even have the capability to ship to Canada and was at a loss to explain how I could have created a profile for someone living outside the US. He said my order and a number of others were for parts that were discontinued and thought he had contacted and charged back these orders. Mine was not one of them but he confirmed something I wanted were no longer available and was going to process a complete refund.
He was a straightforward, apologetic and accommodating guy, so despite not being able to get what I wanted, I feel I was treated fairly.

I placed an order today and got confirmation today. I bought some master cylinder internal rebuild parts that I have never been able to buy separately before. Confirmation came from "buddy", BUDDY@hondaparts-direct.com.

Man, I feel pretty lucky.  Anytime I need oem parts for my bike I just walk into my local dealer and order them.  They'll even look up the parts for me and tell me if they're discontinued or not right then and there.  Usually get the part in 3-4 days to boot.

And shoot, their not even a honda dealership.

Yeah, but they charge you more off the top. The dealer is good for small items that don't cost that much and you don't want to get stuck with a minimum shipping cost. Numerous items or costly ones are usually easier to obtain from these types of outfits compared to dealers.

I usually get those onesy-twosey little things from a local dealer, too. They only charge a dollar oe two shipping instead of some minimum $12.50 for a bolt.  :o

But bolts: Ace Hardware is coming on strong! They now carry an excellent selection of metrics, missing only the 6x80 screws to do a complete 750 engine. A whole set from them costs 1/4 of a Honda set.

+1 an Ace.  good selection of metric csrews and bolts, including stainless.  My local store also carries chrome plated metric fasteners that are gorgeous (esp those button head hex screws), but they are spendy.
Does it matter if the bolts are a few mm longer as long as the head still mate up to the surface?  I can't get the sizes like 32 or 34mm..only 30 or 35.

Based on my experience of waiting 30 days, it means your order hasn't been shipped because something is out of stock, obsolete or both.
At this place, as far as I can tell, it's just one guy at the dealership running the web order business. His software/website/commerce engine is new and is supposed to send out such a notice or give you the option of cancelling your order, etc. but frankly I think the poor guy must be answering calls all day from people who have ordered stuff that no longer exists.
Someone must have have created some sort of parts catalog engine and sold the e-commerce opportunity to these guys without ever having a sense what parts were what. Bike Bandit has the same interface.
I'd been looking for left and right handlebar switches (repop or OE) for my 73 cb750. Best price I could find for NOS was about $300 each on eBay. Most of the used ones look no better than the cruddy ones I already have. I checked Honda Parts Direct.com and there they were, about $95 each. I ordered them only to find out, of course, they don't exist . . . at least not for that price.
Consider the dealership visited I made today. Wanted two fork seals for the same bike. One guy spent 10 mins looking through microfiche to find the part #, then went to his computer(s) to find out there were eight in Canada. He could overnight them from Toronto for an extra $35. Luckily, another guy checked another computer which said there were 3 in their stock. Took them another 10 minutes to find them. Now imagine a place like this having an internet parts site for older Hondas.
I say unless you can see a picture of it, or someone on the phone or email says they have "it" in stock, figure they don't.
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

That's good advice!
I also go to Service Honda or SHSpowersports.com to see if the part I'm wanting is listed: those sites show actual availability. This saves lots of guesswork, too.

I have good luck using the 35 in place of the 32 or 34 in most places: one place where it's important is the rear middle tranny case: if too long, it sticks out into the countersprocket area. But then, you can grind off the end easily.

Glad you got your stuff. I ordered a mini speedo and tach from parts-n-more about 3 months ago. The box arrived 30 days later with some gaskets, a steering neck bearing kit and two light bulbs. I emailed them, they said "keep it" and 3 weeks later my ordered stuff arrives. How can people stay in business like this?

 :D :D

I wish that were true: the Post Office has lost 4 of my things since January this year, 2 of which went to Canada. They hadn't lost that many in the last 5 years.  :-\

I called PartsNmore once when they did that to me, too: they sent me someone else's order. Turns out, they have to pay some sort of Canada export fee or something, and bringing the bad order back is a major paperwork headache for them. I suppose it's their way of cutting their losses?

Good news about Hondaparts being back in business: maybe I'll try them out again.  :)
