House got broken into this afternoon.

My next door neighbor calls me and says "dude, someone just broke into your house and the cops are here".  I was at work and said "I'll be right there".

I get home... there are 6 cop cars including 3 canine units!  Evidently, the Boulder County K9s were training in the area so there was a surplus of pooches (which were all beautiful dogs, by the way).

Anyway... the little #$%*s broke in the back window.  snatched a few things at the same time my buddy was seeing it all go out the window.  He had to run around 2 garages to get to them at my house and by the time he got here they were over my front fence.  They dumped a backpack in the neighbors front lawn and chucked my JVC boombox a block down.

Here's the kicker... the back pack had one of the kid's field trip authorization form in it!   ;D 8) ;D  little F'ing bastards just get dumber every day.   :P

Been wanting to purchase that same buddy's 12ga mossberg... today's the day... as well as getting renter's insurance squared away.

I'm just glad they didn't decide the garage was a better prospect instead... but, like i said... they get dumber every day!

I love my mossberg, 18 inch barrel, 7 + 1, pistol grip, the sound of the slide alone would make Sylvester Stalone crap his pants. ;D

Good choice.

Sorry to hear about your breakin. :o

its a nice economical choice... especially at 100 bucks.   ;)
and yes... the pump action "chk-chk" sound should negate the need for ammo.     ;D 8) ;D

Good to hear the garage was spared.

oh, we have fun w/ the 22... but w/ what seems like millions of the little guys all over the ranch... sometimes its just easier.
besides, half the time i'm on the riding mower and squeezing a shot off from the shotgun is a bit easier.   ;)

and yes... he does have a VERY old john wayne rifle for sale... from before they were considered john wayne rifles.
same make that he used to carry though.

maybe some others too if you're actually interested... he inherited a few from his grandfather's passing.  he's hanging on to most of them but is willing to sell a few.

gordo... they didn't make it past the back room, which is generally closed off from the rest of the house... and basically used for storage during the winter months.
had they made it thru the office door they'd have seen my camera gear and computers and all that stuff.
i haven't found anything missing aside from what was recovered.

they passed up some prime tools in the back room, even still.

Hey Heff,

That really sucks.....I had a break in at my place many years ago while everyone was in bed asleep. They stole cameras, vcr, and cash but it could have been worse. I had a loaded 22 rifle right near where the camera was.....I think that it could have ended up being pointed at me in bed. So...... I went and got a good alarm system and now I keep the ol 1911 near by. Hope that you didn't lose anything very important or valuable. Ya might want to look into a alarm system that is monitored. Well worth it if you ask me.

i'll have that alarm soon enough... my live-in storage facility management position comes to fruition in november... 16 motion sensing/recording cameras, monitored alarm system, coded gates... it'll be like living in a compound since we'll be the only ones living on the 2 acre site.  considering building a moat as well.   ;D

for now tho... i'm big on gun safety (dad's an ex-cop)... hopefully nothing to worry about and i'll do my best to protect myself, elizabeth, the kitties and ferrets, guests, and possibly even the criminal.  they'd have to really REALLY piss me off to make me consider even pulling the gun out.

yea... but with an alarm system you don't have to clean up the back yard, walk in the bad weather, give it a bath or feed it to do the same thing.

how sketchy do you think I looked walking down the alley with this?   ;D   the "clack-clack" is all the intimidation factor I need.

gun needs cleaning and an ammo loading plate... small beans... i've got projects everywhere.   :D
not sure if its a 5+1 or more?  Its an accu-choke, I've got 2 more chokes w/ the gun.  paid him $125 as he would not settle for $100.
I haven't shot a 12ga since I was a boy.  nearly knocked me on my ass then and I think I weigh less now.   ;D

rock salt? that's nasty homemade terrorist stuff. you'll do more time than the thief for that sh!t. while the a-hole is living in what used to be your house.

have dad get you some of that 'non-lethal' cop ammo... or get the civilian kind. rubber buckshot.... little beanbag... rubber ball. you could pop him with one of those just for being in range if you wanted to. hurts like hell but doesn't really do much damage.

AA is what Winchester calls their target loads - small shot and lots of powder. Remington Gun Club is about the same. 1-1/8 oz. of lead.

if there's 4 or 5 walls in the way, put some regular buckshot in.

El Jefe, sorry about your break in. It's good that you didn't lose too much, but from minor experience, I'd bet you feel more violated and torqued at the cretins who did it.

As for the gun owners, I am very much a supporter of the 2nd Amendment; however, please keep them locked up on secure cases or with trigger locks.
