Just effed up my Nighthawk's clutch
« on: May 06, 2009, 04:16:58 PM »
As of right now, my Nighthawk is my sole mode of transportation. I finally cracked open the clutch fluid reservoir last night to find some disgusting brown contaminated liquid. I started bleeding some of it, but ran low on brake fluid, so I topped it off, put the cap on, and drove it to work today. I have more fluid now, and I went to bleed it again, but now pushing the clutch lever doesn't push any fluid at all. I rapped on the hydraulic lines with a wrench and a few bubbles came to the surface in the reservoir, but topping off the fluid and putting the cap back on leaves me with no clutch.

This little guy was floating around in the fluid, I'm assuming it's important. The Clymer's manual calls it, descriptively, "Clip."

What'd I do? What will it take to get me going again? I need to get to work tomorrow!

That is probably just a splash guard to stop fluid squirting in fountains when you pump the clutch to bleed it..
