I don't have a jigsaw, but I do have a wire wheel that would make short work of the remaining plastic chunk....

shoulda thought of that before.

I let it cure in the sun for about 2 days now.
It's solid, and I started sanding the ridge off, I need am electric sander... my shoulder hurts.

The two halves settled a little ''off'' over night, so there's a bit of a high side, but I'll work it out.

I'm gonna have to relocate those turn signals, and trim the frame up so it doesn't stick out past the tail.

If you trim the frame rails might I suggest making a curving cut that creates a continuous line frm the shock gusset up to the tail? That would look nice I think.

I really like the idea there IndustrialCafe!!

I got a tail piece I wanted to use on my next 650, but as yours was, mine is too wide.(IMO)

Thought of fiberglassing it, but it's plastic, and worried about de-lamination over time.
Might have to get some MEK, and see if it will work on the one I have as well.

Love cheap ideas for nice parts.

We used to use MEK to rebuild housings on some old medical devices that were being sunsetted. We had a melting pot we made of old housings where we would put some MEK and mix it until the proper consistency.

Nasty stuff though....

Cant wait to see the final product.

thanks everybody, I'm done for the day, my shoulder won't let me keep going.

I wish that sticker was easier to remove.

here you can see the bubbles that were trapped in the "glue" I'll make some thin filler later.

here's the underside.
I wish I would have taken a picture before I hit it with some black...

I made a little tray out of aluminum foil and set that triangle up in it. When it was the consistency of saddle leather I removed it.
while all this was going on I kept a piece of a MEK soaked rag on the underside of the tail to soften it.
Then I squirted fresh MEK on the area, and put them together, soaked up the excess and laid some weight on the parts and let it cure.

My son works at a body shop and they do a lot of plastic welding on bumper etc etc. Might be worth asking a shop if there is one close by.

You'll want a lot of ventilation with MEK, maybe a respirator too...it is powerful stuff.

Hi IC, i use a hairdryer to heat the stickers up to make them easier to get off. If you haven't removed them.....
