Rear Brake Shoe Cam, Felt Washer and a Squeak
« on: May 10, 2009, 10:17:23 AM »
Yanno that big cam that goes through the brake hub and the shoes mount to on one end?  Does this get lubed?  If so, with what?

Also, where does that felt washer go?  I only see one.  I saw it on my leg after the shoes came off.

I had a squeak (flippin' loud) back here when the rear brake pedal was perty much fully depressed.  Is the need of some lube there the culprit?

I have deglazed the rear drum but it did not look bad.  The old shoes really did not look worn but have new ones to go in there anyway.  The shoes appeared to be flat and not conical shaped.

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

So I am guessing that the felt washer goes on that cam next to brake lever.  Saw it in the fiche as #4.  Any guesses on the rest of it?

The big brake shoe cam I am referring to is #5 in the fiche.
