Oil Filter Adapter
« on: July 24, 2006, 07:24:21 PM »
I saw an oil filter adapter for a CB 350 F on ebay awhile back when I was so poor I could not pay attention so I did not bid.  It screwed in so you could use regular Fram PH-8A oil fliters.

Anyone have one of these or know where to get one?

Are they a good idea or bad idea?

PH8 isnt that a huge filter? I know the 8A was a monster. Maybe Terry in Australia could step in and cue us as he is the cooler king.

Well of course they're a great idea mate, it's a lot easier to change a spin on filter than the OEM alternative, I've no idea what a Fram PH8 filter looks like, I use small asian car or late model motorcycle filters now, and they look and work fine. Here's a pic. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

No worries Mr B, the filter adapter is $75.00 and airmail to your door is $20.00. (US $) My paypal account is the same as my email account, sherriffbuck@yahoo.com, you can pay anytime, but I won't start until after the weekend, I'm going riding! (of course if it pisses down rain again like it has the last two weekends I'll be carving aluminum instead, boohoo!) Cheers, Terry. ;D

Sorry to hear Terry! Out here in sunny California,We just had a real bad heatwave.I live in Modesto and last Saturday,we hit 111 degrees. The paper said the hottest it has ever been here since they began keeping records in the 1930's was 112!!!!! Holy #$%*!!!! I don't want to burst into flames myself let alone the scoot so I have'nt been riding either. Will be in touch soon for the adapter though and if the funds were better,I'd add the cooler......one thing at a time!!!!

Maybe I am having a brain cramp.  I remember the filter being one I keep on hand, might have been a smaller one like a 3600 for my wife's Taurus.

the 3600 will work in place of the ph8a,also the ph43,ph16 theres a real tiny one that fit late 80`s chrysler 4 cylinders that will work too,but i cant think of the number right now.

PH16 I think is the one that goes on all of the Non-Import Ford V-6's 3.0L etc. Long skinny one so that is definitely "Is that an oil filter or are you happy to see me"  ;D I also remember 1 of the Honda filters 33 or 32 also fit. Now I am thinking in Penzoil #'s but I swear it was the PZ-32 (nice and compact - short filter). Which had the same threads PZ-1 (Fram 8) and the PZ 16 shared the same threads and I think the same setting for the by pass valve in the filter.

I only know this stuff because I worked in the Quick lube biz for 4 years as a manager. They would run us out of filters so we would have to cheat once in a while. But keep in mind I only know Penzoil numbers.

This adapter is normally used in combination with a conventional oil filter and is placed between the oil filter and the engine of a vehicle. The adapter contains a solid, oil-soluble oil viscosity index improver in association with means, preferably a perforated sheet surrounding the improver, to limit contact of the improver with oil which flows through the adapter from the engine to the oil filter.
