Okay 650 Vb44 carb gurus, I tried lookin' through my wonderful Clymer's manual, and can't find anything about where the tube in this pic. is supposed to go...  When I put the carbs back on the bike I reconnected it at the remote fuel shutoff, but the other end seemed to go nowhere.  I looked on the airbox and engine for a missing spot, but can't find anything.  Does it go anywhere, or is it just a vent or something?

                         Thanks,
                                     Sam.

Thats the vacum.  Goes to one of the carbs one the engine side on top.  #2 I think. I take mine all off and cant remember for sure.

+1 on the taking the whole thing off.

Judging by the way they're mounted, and the fact that they're not an integrated part of the tank petcock, these vacuum valves on the 650's were an afterthought in the design, they're superfluous because you still have the standard "on/off" petcock, and they just add another area for problems to occur with the fuel delivery.

Can you tell I don't like them? ;D

  • Oh hell, what's one more bike?
I've never had a problem with mine.

I just looked at mine, and it goes to the underside of the bike. (It's a vent) Otherwise, there are three hoses, but you sound like you have those hooked up.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

yep. got them hooked up..  vac line comes outta the underside and is going to #2 carb i think.  I wasn't sure because I didn't see where that other end went to when I unhooked it(left that hose on the bike when I took the carbies off).  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna go rollin' down the road and a few minutes later go sputter sputter ;)

          Thanks.

I say forget the hose and remove the whole thing like the other guys say. When i bought my bike it ran great then out of nowhere starting pouring out fuel like there's no tomorrow. So i removed it and been happy ever since.
