Fork Oil types? What do you use in your CB750 K ??
« on: May 10, 2009, 05:06:59 pm »
I am sure this has been asked a dozen times and I am sorry I have not yet figured out how to search the forums here.
. What is everyone using for fork oil in Cb750 K models?
The Honda shop manual calls for SAE 10w-30 motor oil. I have heard of people using automatic transmission fluid also.
thanks
They are not all the same!

Nothing is of great value until it is finished.

I've used all 3. They all work. Right now I have 20W fork oil and it sure was stiff on a cold day yesterday.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Type in something like "Fork Oil" in the upper right of your screen and voila!
Results fantastique!

Be sure you are in the home or sohc tech section when you search though.

Some people use ATF and some use fork oil. Use what makes sense to you.

Same here...per the manual, 10w30 in my KO & K1.  Both ride and handle fine.

BelRay 10w fork oil works good.  Using a 10w-30 in a fork is like using a straight 10w because the second number refers to the acting-weight/viscosity at engine operating temps.  The forks do not appreciably heat the oil so it just acts like the base-weight oil (e.g. the 10w in a 10w-30 oil).   Did they have special fork oils back in the day?

fork oil is a personal thing... kinda like shoes ;)

what feels good to some doesnt feel good to others!!!

i personaly use 10W its a little soft but it doesnt hydro lock as easy... but ridding 2UP it deffinetly needs something thicker (15w or 20w)

what i would do is get some 10w, 15w, 20w  get a graduated cyclender and try the 10w! put about 50 miles on it! then drain and do the same with 15w.... ect... then see which one you like best... ALSO make sure your front spings are good mine were saggy and i replaced them with progressive springs from DYNOMAN.net once you find the right oil.. toss the others out ;) :) and buy some extra oil of the Weight you like and at the beggining of the season change out the fork oil :)

happy dampening ;)
