I agree!  There are 24 hours in each day, so each hour should have its own name.  Saves the hassle of dealing with am/pm, and there's no more screw-ups with the alarm clock!

should be zero hour... it isn't a hundred of anything.  not even minutes... they only go to sixty so how can it start (or end) on a hundred?

That's just a military thing.  I don't think they do it that way in places where the general public uses 24 hour time.
