...triples are plenty strong, stock 35mm fork tubes and lowers are fairly noodley for such a heavy bike...fork brace is a noticeable improvement

I'm glad I found this topic...

I was pretty dead set on upgrading my front end to a GL1000 front end until I read this.

Other than the dual discs, would the 2mm fatter front forks offer that much more of an improvement to warrant the added $$$ of swapping on a GL1000 front end? Id much rather rebuild what I have and add a fork brace and steering damper (with racetech internals) and leave that extra $$$ i'd spend on the conversion parts, top triple, gauge mount, etc for other aspects of the bike.

Can anyone weigh in?

Any experience on Emgo "performance" rear shocks. They are a dual spring shock. Much less expensive than the progressive brand. I have used progressive brand before and they sure are buttery, I'd like to get similar performance out of the Emgos but usually you get what you pay for with that brand.

Emgo and performance in the same sentence is an oxymoron.... ;D

I have used them only 'cuz they were $25 a pair brand new at the swap meet...better than mushy or clapped out stockers, but that is all there is to say about 'em...not worth the $80 odd they retail for
