CB350 TWIN valves
« on: May 11, 2009, 08:12:00 AM »

Does anyone know if the Honda service manual numbers are the best to use for clearances?  I only ask because on my CB750, it runs better with them open wider than suggested.

In .002 and ex .004

Stockish airbox and original exhaust.

Thanks!

Well, original box and filters, but there isn't much left of the filter material, they are clean though.

Same with exhaust, might be a little more free flowing than stock and such.

I don't mind setting and takin a ride, and repeating the next day, was just curious for other's thoughts.  =)

Manufacturers like to keep valve clearances as small as possible, for the simple reason of top end noise. If you ride near redline a bit, though, slightly more clearance is helpful. Causes less wear, and handles the top end a bit better.
Unless you are looking for quietest engine you can have, and don't spend a lot of time stressing the engine, the outside margin of the clearances stated are better, and sometimes, even a little wider is better.
No.
