rubber boot/intake hose connecting airbox to carb
« on: May 11, 2009, 11:20:00 AM »
I have a 78' CB 550k. I need one rubber boot that runs from the airbox to the carb. Honda doesn't make the airbox anymore. does anyone know if there is a company that manufactures a part like this that will fit my bike? I have heard this is a fairly common problem, but I have had a hell of a time finding a replacement part : (

thanks.

I think you can still get them from Honda.

honda not making them anymore, and being able to still get them from honda, are two different things.

just suggesting that if you haven't tried honda... you might still want to.

Bought nearly everything from Honda (more than I'd care to mention  :'() and only been stumped once.  They still carry a ton of vintage stuff , one of the great advantages of these bikes!

Nice thing about buying direct from the Honda shop, no shipping charges.

True, but the Honda shop closest to me said they couldn't get them. I ended up going to this massive motorcycle salvage yard, and taking it off a bike there. I didnt know that the rubber boots for the 2nd and 3rd carb are a different shape/size than those for the 1st and 4th.

Thanks everyone for your help!!!

Where is that salvage yard located, it's always nice to share info like that in case others might need to do some hunting and gathering also.
