New 1978 CB750K8 owner
« on: November 01, 2005, 07:07:54 AM »
Hi everybody,

I'm so glad I found this place! I'm a new owner of a 1978 750 K8, with under 8,200 miles, and in awesome visual condition. The bike was serviced regularily by the dealership until last year, when the owner bought an Electraglide, and didn't ride the Honda for about a year. It sat in a heated garage. I got it trailed to my garage last night, and I'm getting ready to change all the fluids, battery and trying to get her started...

My question is - is there a detailed list of all changes/mods between different model years? Or can someone point out the main ones to me?

Also, how about any known issues that I might come upon?

Thanks!

Scout

HA the K8s are gaining!!! WOOHOO! If you go to the home page here, there is a tech listing on the bikes and it will state the changes over the model years. The K8s are heavier than the K1 - K6 but also have less weaknesses than those years from the refinements. Parts however are a bit harder to find, mainly carb parts but being the intrepid and grossly intelligent K8 owners we are, we have come up with many ways around things.
Me, Quail, and Buffo all have K8s and there are others as well. You will notice that we have less trouble than the others do! We just like to tinker. So lets get some pics of the new ride and proceed to bash the K1 owners mercilessly even though they are defenseless!! ;D

Wow, my first post, and I step into a battle already  ;D

I'll be sure to take the pictures tomorrow, on my day off to work on the bike. Hopefully I'll be able to take it for a spin... Never bought a used bike that didn't require a good carb cleaning, but then I never had a Honda, and one that was serviced very regularily....

Thanks for the tips, I'm sure newbbie questions get old, but it's just a bit much to process when tryin to find info on a 27 year old bike... So far my oldest has been an 87 Yamaha FJ1200, and the Honda is my first bike that won't require laying down on the tank  8)

Thanks again,

Scout

Someone has to protect new K8 owners from the ravages of jealous K1 owners!

Another one joins the ever popular 1978 fraternity 8)
P.S. I lie on my tank all the time, every bike needs a hug now and then.
