Honda DN-01, what's your opinion?
« on: May 16, 2009, 09:43:06 AM »

I've never seen one in the flesh, but they seem kind of interesting, in a gimmicky sort of way. But with no storage space or touring provisions, and that outrageous pricetag, does Honda really expect to sell any? That tranny would be fantastic as a Goldwing option.

That'll go right next to the Valkyrie Rune in the history books.

My local dealer has one.

I sat on it.

Comfy for a cruiser.

kind of interesting, in a gimmicky sort of way.

IMHO, that pretty much sums up MOST of the new models being offered...

Guess I'm just stuck in the past...   ;D

No Honda is stuck in the past. Others are brining back things that look like motorcycles. Retro modern.

More and more older riders want to ride a "sit up" bike...and the hydraulic automatic transmission is fairly significant technology.

Lots of people poo-poohed automatics in sports cars until the Porsche TipTronic came along...and until F1 cars started using automatic paddle-shifters....

I think the DN-01 is cool...not saying I'd buy one, but it's cool.

I read the tests on this thing. They call it a crossover between a motorcycle and and a touring scooter. I am not sure it will satisfy either.
