got hit today by a large truck

Could've been worse, but wearing 85% of the right gear saved my life. In hospital now & will be released tomorrow with some road rash, a broken finger, large contusion of the left ankle & knee. Was wearing leather boots, jacket & helmet and Levis but not gloves or chaps. Haven't seen the bike but sure there's plenty of damage. 96 magna is my daily rider.... not my 74 750 k4. Family brought my laptop so I can keep in touch.  Lady driver for fedex never saw me and pulled right into me from side street. Had choice of her back tires or the tarmac and the curb. Took latter
(no choice) and here I lay.  Please be extra careful out there guys/gals.  They're out there and they are trying to kill us.  Be safe and wear the gear !

Agree...so many in your situation never get a chance to tell about "the guy that did not see me."  Glad to hear you are on the mend!!!

Damn, sorry to hear that but I am glad you will still be able to get on the K4 once you get better. Heal well and then let the paperwork pain begin.

+1 on healing up quick!

One good thing is at least Fed-Ex has deep pockets and it wasn't some knob without insurance! Atleast you should see some fair compensation for the bike etc...still sure you would prefer to never have had the incident but it helps knowing that at least you will get what you are owed.

glad to see youre well enough to keep in touch from your hospital bed. my laptop was the single biggest thing that helped keep me sane when i broke my neck and was hospitalized 2 years ago.

Always sorry to hear about a bro goin' down. You are so right about them being out there to kill us. Glad you came out OK!!!!! Totally agree with Dennis about the dumb,preoccupied,not totally paying attention,chick that hit ya.If it woulda been me......it woulda been some low life with no insurance.You will come outa this with a good amount of money,a sh!tload of wisdom,stories to tell your grandkids,some scars,maybe some aches & pain that wasn't there before.
I used to run with this guy in Wyoming back around 01'-02'.He bought a used Harley Heritage Springer and he was hit in an intersection by a girl that was a delivery driver for one of those coffee/espresso places(her fault). He was compensated quite well and his bike came back from the shop probably better than new.....looks wise especially.
Very cool that you got the laptop to occupy your time.I know how hospitals suck.....after a coupla days.....ya go bonkers.......Take care and heal up quick dude!!!!

learning to ride where i did i think makes me a bit more road aware than riders from other areas. see, i leanred to ride living in tampa/st pete area, you know, gods own waiting room?

Wow, Thanks everyone for your get well wishes....They are releasing me today with crutches. Have a large contusion on left ankle and knee, broken finger and of course the rash... jacket is ruined, helmet and boots are heavily scratched. I be on the healing road so that I will either get another bike or repair this one...depends on the insurance co. Just in case... anyone know of another 96 magna (perfer red/black) out there for sale...let me know.  I really do mean it... they need to pass the nationwide law against cell phones and other distractingly habits. I not sure if this was the case, but every day I see more & more of it.
