red line for 78 CB50F motor?
« on: May 14, 2009, 07:22:15 AM »
Hey guys, i have my tach gauge apart right now for freshening up... I am going to be either making new gauge faces... or having them made... here is the question....

I have a 76 CB750F that had a 78 CB750F motor swapped into it.... I am unsure if the PO swapped out the tach gauge to match the proper redline of the 78 motor.... so who knows what the redline of a 78 CB750F motor is? 9500?

I thought redline for the 750's (all of 'em) was 8500 or 9000.

Tach and tach gear are the same on those, far as I know. Redline should be the same too, I thought?
No.

I have a 1978 CB750 F2. This is an Australian bike. The red line segment starts 9500rpm and finishes at 10500rpm. Pat

It starts at 8500, I thought that was where the "redline" was.

If it's common info that it's the end of the red marked ares... that makes me feel better about my rev limiter setting....

The 77-78 Fs begin redline at 9500, other 750s redline earlier. The exhaust guides will not be happy if the rpms stay there for very long very often.
