Greetings from Minneapolis, MN, new cb750k2 owner
« on: May 12, 2009, 02:12:05 PM »
Hello all,

I was very excited to come across this site while looking for info about my bike.  It was sold as a 1973, but my VIN is CB750-204xxxx which from what I can tell means it's a '72?  I did a bit of research before buying my first bike and I'm scrambling to catch up on mechanical and maintenance information.  I've got a Clymer guide, the original owners manual, the shop manual, and another book on restoration and history of the 750.  I'd be grateful to anyone in MN with experience and know-how to give me some tips or meet up for a cruise.  I'll try and post pictures in the coming days.  It starts and runs fine, but the carbs need to be synced and adjusted and the chain, though I've oiled it and adjusted the tension to spec, seems quite noisy.  I'm a motorcycle newbie and planning to learn and try to do most of the maintenance myself.  I'm excited to slowly restore this gem and even more excited to spend many a weekend riding.  Glad to be here!

Welcome, Jamin. You might take a look at the regional boards to see if you can find folks near you, or you could even post there to find MN folks. I know we have a few folks out there, but they may miss the new member introduction. Good luck on the rebuild; it sounds as if you've got a solid start, and this is the place to ask questions, any questions at all except questions about which oil to use or what kind of fuel filter to use. Those are sore subjects. ;-)

To give you even more stuff to read, you may want to check out the FAQ's if you  haven't already, although you can read them as needed.

Welcome Jamin!
I recently joined this group as well.  I am an avid reader of tech forums for all of my bikes.
I'll be hosting a Vintage Motorcycle Show in Babbitt, Minnesota (90 miles north of Duluth) on June 27th.  If you'll send me your address (goldwing55706@yahoo.com), I'll send you info. about the bike show.
Ride safely,
Jon

Welcome from WI.  Seems there is an abundance of 750's in MN.  There is no better place to be than here if you are looking for advise.  One thing you will find out is we like pics...when you figure it out send some our way.  Remember as you go about your restore...this is fun!!!  ;D
