Steel braided line, and where cheaper the $100?
« on: May 15, 2009, 01:57:38 PM »
As I am sure most of the regulars know, I am a cheap bass turd.  So I am sure it's no surprise that I am grumbling about spending $100 on 2 lines from HELUSA.  Does anyone know of a place to get them for less?

Thanks!

Just sent you an e-mail for break lines, I'm not sure if these are coated or not,I my self is about to order 2 Set's, coated does not scratch other surfaces  as much.

Spiegler will do 60 bucks for one continuous - from MC to hard line or caliper.  http://www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/brakelines.cfm

If you replace both rubber lines it's more like 110.  (more ends I guess)

I went to a local hydraulics shop with my old lines and told them that I wanted a stainless line that went from the MC to the hard line on the caliper (bypassing the block on the trees.)  After I told them how long I wanted it and they figured out what ends to put on it and I got it a couple of days later for 45 bucks.  It was a hell of a lot cheaper and my money went to a local company.

I have not actually ordered Spiegler brake lines but I spoke with them and it sounded like they could have a custom built line out in about a day.  I believe it was an extra 10 bucks for "colored" - I'm not sure if that's "abrasion reducing" or not.  I have heard of rubber or plastic sheathing which I'm sure is an extra as well.  That's nice in two ways: it looks more factory and it's not as abrasive as bare stainless.
