CB350G High Idle? (vid inside)

Hey guys,

Just got done installing a new float on the left carb, and now it idles really high...at 2k. Is this normal for these bikes (i bought it with a bad float, so this is the first time it's run right since i've had it)? If not, what do i need to do? Start with the idle adjustment screw? If so, how do i get both carbs adjusted the same amount? Thanks!

No its not normal.

Make sure the carbs are balanced.

I pulled this off an old thread here,might help ya....also the link is to the thread here where you can download the shop manual for your bike....

Bump. Can anyone help?

With a carb synch tool.
I can't remember if/where the spigots are on the carbs/boots on that bike.

You should probably ask to have this moved to the 'other bikes' section,  might get a bit more info, as the rest of the forum is for SOHC4's... which the 350g is not :)

Ah, as martino said, no provision for s synch tool on the twins.
Doesn't mean you couldn't do a number on the carb boots to make it possible. It's what I'm doing on my 350t

Thanks for the info! And now that i remember, i believe i messed with the cable adjuster on the carb when i tried to take the carb off the first time (i didn't see that the bracket could be unscrewed). I'm gonna try this when i have a chance.

Also, i've seen that FAQ thread about the manuals, but i don't see anything about 350 twins :(

Probably cos the SOHC4 site is for Single Overhead Cam 4 cylinder bikes mate...........but we are a cheerful helpful lot. :D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Haha i know that, but i've seen a good amount of info and discussions on twins, so why not throw that on there as well? :P

The file is large so right click on it and choose 'Save file as'.  If you wait for it to load in your browser it will take a long long time.

I have a 350G as well and you want to make sure that both carbs move at the same time when you twist the throttle.  Like Martino described.  That'll get you really close.  There are always other variables to consider.  If the exhaust is not stock....if you are using pods as opposed to the original air box.  In my case it took me three weeks of adjusting and cleaning the carbs to finally realize the previous owner was using jets 3 sizes larger than stock.  You might give that a check just to be sure....rejetting is popular.

Lol, i'm aware of what a pdf file is :P. It just wasn't loading the first time, but did load the second time i clicked on the link.

Anyways, i got it fixed. I messed with the butterfly screws to adjust the idle, brought it down to 1100rpms. And also synced the carbs to the closest i could by feel and sight. She's good to go! :)
