CB 650 VIN...HELP
« on: November 01, 2005, 05:07:45 PM »
Hello,

I am going to buy my first bike.  The seller is telling me that it is titled in California (where I live) with this VIN number JH2RC1302FM201374.  He claims it to be a 1985 cb650 Nighthawk.  If anyone out there could verify this or if it isn't right tell me what it is titled for.  Also, if indeed it is titled does it matter what the title says (I tend to believe that it does) but I could be wrong.  Thanks from an enthusiastic newbie.  By the way its selling for $129 on craigslist.  Check out the link.

Can't help with the VIN, but I do have this piece of advice.  Save your money and buy a SOHC/4.  Specifically one without "Serious top end issues".

Gordon I couldnt agree more with you.

tranger03 I know you see the price tag as a cheap way in. When in fact when you get into this bike you will quickly find that it is not all that you had hoped. I hate to burst your bubble, but I see hundreds of these bikes a month with serious issues. Usually I steer away from them unless I am getting them for $50 and plan to part it out.

There are plenty of $200 specials out there to be found that do not have the serious engine issues. I would say pick your battles according to what you can handle fixing.

I bought my 75 CB 750 for $150?
