installing rear brake shoes..
« on: May 16, 2009, 04:14:02 AM »
are they meant to be such a tight fit - i.e the holes on the shoes fitting over the pivot arms..
looks like they may only go over with a spot of heat applied to the shoes?

Spot of heat still aint working but everything appears a tight fit on the pivots including the washer..
I couldent even remove the old shoes and got the shop to do it while they rebuilt my wheels.
I'm assuming they just smashed them off because I got a call saying my brake shoes had been
'contaminated' and I would need some knew ones.  :-\

The pivots appear in good shape no obvious damage or irregular shape....
I reckon I might just get there with a lot of force heat and a rubber mallet... but surely this aint right?  ???

They shouldn't require a hammer or heat to install.  Think my current set is aftermarket but don't remember any issues with installing them.  I'd bust out a caliper and take some measurements.  Post up some pics of the backing plate if you can.
