I agree with everyone who thinks Honda dropped the ball on this one.  The fury is going to appeal to "instant" bikers.  Choppers are like hotrods.  They are supposed to be hand built and one of a kind.  I must say it's kinda cool loking, but I couldn't see myself on one.  Oh well to each his/her own.

I have read elsewhere that the design was intended to be easily customizable. (is that a real word?)
The design and specs were released to the chrome and custom parts people a while before the bike was released, although I haven't seen anything available yet. The tank was left purposely void of any logo's or decals to encourage custom paint schemes. It should be interesting to see when these things start getting modified. Not that anyone on this board would be interested in modifying a stock bike.
I have seen one of these bikes in person and think that the tank is the weak point in the design. It also needs a little more than three gallons of gas to go any distance although I can see where most of these bikes will only be driven as far as the local bar.

This is the first Fury forum I've seen, http://www.furyforums.com/forum/

The "customization" route makes sense if Honda is trying to compete with HD. As far as I can tell, "customization" in the form of bags, chrome, windshields, etc. is part of that buying experience. The odd thing to me has always been that it seems some/many HD owners are most interested in their own customization as opposed to being interested in what others have done, but then again, this just makes it easier to sell owners on the idea that bags and a windshield make their bikes custom creations.

Honda could have fun with this if they encouraged Honda dealers to partner up with paint shops who could offer truly custom paint jobs for the tanks.

I looked around in there for a bit to see what kind of discussions they're having and wasn't much surprised...

Now, was he meaning that in a good way or a bad way, cuz at 70mph, I can't hear my bike at all anymore, just the white noise of the wind, and I love it that way.

Three words: Radically Raked Forks! Plus, it has a pointy headlight. The fenders are close to the tires!

I notice a few others of equal importance: The wheels go round! It has footpegs on both sides! Working brake light!

With selling points like these, the Furry is bound to sell.

They had me at "Bullet shaped headlight".  Oooooooooooh  so bad ass!

Though they may be able to attract more of the bandwagoners as soon as they offer some saddlebags and a windscreen for accessories.  ;)
In my opinion they would have been much better off going with a retro themed bike.

As always, aethetics is a subjective consideration.  Ignoring the OCC etc. associations that people seem to hate, the design itself looks to me to be a clean, crisp and tight rendering of the type.

Just my opinion but I'm not liking the large gap under the tank near head tube,  could have maybe gone with a larger capacity fuel tank to cover that space a bit more

i can hear both my bikes at all speeds, even well above a ton on the kawi.
maybe that's why i can't hear what anyone says... ever.   :D

now now bill..... settle.  ;D

If the Fury wasn't such an obvious attempt a luring people in a specific direction I think we'd all be less harsh towards it. I've ridden one. Seems to handle fairly well compared to the VTX1800 and the VTX1300 handled like crap to begin with so... there's a plus.

The seat is ok, but that would be the first thing I would change. Especially if I was riding for more than 20 minutes or so.

Other than that vibration is minimal for a v-twin and it goes down the road better than any HD I have ridden to date. (I'm still waiting for a test ride on the XR1200)

If they added bags and a windshield (still not sure about this one) it would be a ton easier to go on a trip with.

while not an ugly bike, i'd have to agree with you on your points. that front fender was poorly executed too. maybe some modified furrys will show up with above issues addressed.

there's been a few cars, trucks, bikes, i've seen in print that i didn't like but once seeing them in the flesh appealed to me more. i'll keep a (slightly) open mind.

if honda was gonna jump on a gimmick i wish they considered the bobber look of the hd nightster instead.

I don't mind the color on this one, nice wheels.

Mick
Color and styling are not bad to me, just not something that I would like to own.  I'm just hoping this bike doesn't SOUND like the Shadows.  Those bikes sound like a 3-cylinder bike running on two  :P

i think that is a big part of it. but i also think this reeks of mc chopper/occ /bellybuttonbike too.

but... i'd test ride one.

A South Dakota Honda dealer has to resort to a Craig's Listing to sell their Fury... Maybe tells you something about it's reception in HD country???

I wouldn't say 'resort to'... lots of businesses are jumping on the craigslist bandwagon since EBAY decided to FTW.

My local Honda dealer had a Fury sitting in the showroom marked as already sold.
