Certainly not my cup of tea, however, a chopper with the reliability of a Honda? That bike has to perform well too. Motorcyclist just did a write up of their first ride and think pretty highly of it.

Good God that commercial was horrible. LCD indeed.

Will Harley try to sue them over this bike's exhaust note also?

the guy at a bike show last year said they scrapped the 919 cause it wouldn't sell
guess they figure the 1100 and 750 wouldn't sell either

if they marketed the 919 in all it's lifespan half as hard as they're cramming this bike it might have just survived. from what i read testers liked the 919 overall, but were underwhelmed by styling.

two things about that: one, these guys (likely all in their twenties) are use to flashy plastic covered bikes. second,  the 1100f and other prototype (name?) have looks up the butt and never get lost in a crowd.

this fury would look ok imo with some subtle, but key, styling alterations. that tank is just dumb, needs to be shaped less like a parentheses. and the front fender is really wrong. i know it's trendy for todays billet choppers, but that don't make it good looking. and face it, these are all about looks. people with $$ and no sense for aesthetics will buy 'em.

if honda made something akin to the hd 'nightster' (REALLY stupid name milwaukee) then they would have me.

Actually, all that lightning/vine-growing/wolves-howling/black sky and darkness following that happened on that commercial happened to me every time I got on my cb650. It was fun at first but it got tiring when everyone in the grocery store thinks you're one of the four horsemen. I just wanted to pick up some bread! Darn you Honda!!

That's the funniest thing I've read on the forum in weeks. :D

I guess I just don't get it. In my mind Harley's are form before function and Honda's are function before form. Why Honda has to follow the money trail so much is beyond me. I happen to like Harley's, enough so that I will most likely own one someday. I will most likely own 4-5 Honda's before buying a Harley for a couple of reason's. When I say that I mean after I own a cafe, bobber, stocker and newer retro bike I might add a Harley to the collection for long distance freeway rides with the wife.
My brother has  a metric cruiser and we road over 3K miles with our Dad in about 11 days two years ago. I borrowed my Dad's '96 springer Heritage and he road his '03 springer heritage. My brother's metric (pictured below) would blow the hot air from the engine when it got hot right into his crotch, something he pulled over for a couple of times during our rides.
My point is, every bike has it's week point and I choose to look at what I like instead of what I don't. I like riding a Harley on a week long trip more than a Honda but I like riding my Honda on a day long trip more than riding a Harley. While I enjoy the lines of choppers and respect them for what they are a stock factory chopper seems like something that should never exist in my mind and defeats the whole point of a chopper IMO.
Oh and I've ridden my brothers bike enough to know metric cruisers just aren't my bag. He also agrees but due to financial reasons he rides this.....

Hey Ecosse, Not too long ago I saw a beautiful 1100F on C-list down your way.  I just checked, it's gone.  Damn this down turned economy.

Well, they sold me one!  I heard that they were discontinuing it, so I found a leftover and got a great deal a little over a year ago.  I figured since I had two of the first CBs (450s,) and two of the best CBs (750F1 & F2) that I ought to have one of the last CBs as well!  Wait, that was 2 CB450s, 2 CB750s, and only one CB900F?  I shouldn't have broken the pattern, I need to talk to the wife about getting another 9'er. ;D (yeah, like that's gonna happen!)

Oh, by the way, I looked at one of those Fury's in person, and there is no comparison as far as I'm concerned, the 9'er beats it on all fronts (looks, performance, & comfort.)

This is a no brainer guys and gals.

The bike is being marketed as an affordable chopper for all the youth who have no idea of what motorcycling is all about besides what they see on TV, which is again the OCC and Jesse James etc. etc.

Some one said they cannot figure out why they would follow the money trail like that? That's easy, sales have been down for two years now and that's not good, when that happens people get desperate.

So if you want to be a bad arse mofo and bring plague and pestilance and summon deamons every where you go... BUY THE HONDA FURY!!!

+1.  They could have done SO WELL with a 750 throwback.  Why is it Ducati, BMW and Triumph are the only ones cashing in on the sexy retrochic looks?

They would KILL with a "green retro" commuter.  I'm thinkin' a classic styled 750 with modern technology in the engine and exhaust systems for minimal emissions and better gas mileage.  Something to appeal to people who aren't comfortable on crotch rockets or Hardlys.

Three words: Radically Raked Forks! Plus, it has a pointy headlight. The fenders are close to the tires!

I notice a few others of equal importance: The wheels go round! It has footpegs on both sides! Working brake light!

With selling points like these, the Furry is bound to sell.

Yeah, I'm not sure which was my fave highlighted feature, but "Bullet-shaped headlight" is up near the top of the list.

My two favorites were DISRUPTION!
wtf does disruption have to do with it?
and second was CUSTOM CHOPPER! design
Its not a custom chopper just designed after one? Which one? and who customized that tank, some dude reliving the 70's. They may as well have put a coffin tank or one of those diamond shaped ones.

(with a very small voice)  It's kind of a cool bike.  It's ashame they are marketing it to nimrods.

I agree. 6 or 7 years ago it would've put Honda on the leading front of the trend. But why now?

I suppose it's a bid to cash in on the stupid portion but really? It was bad enough with honda cars.

As always, aethetics is a subjective consideration.  Ignoring the OCC etc. associations that people seem to hate, the design itself looks to me to be a clean, crisp and tight rendering of the type.

As I said before the squeaky clean image of the rider has changed. Honda had to change, they need market share in a crappy economy. HD is on the ropes right now, so to steal their image is a smart move. HD had an ad last year in which one Black sheep was shunned from the herd and it joined in with other black sheep until they all came together. I laughed since the herd goes for the HD and the Black sheep ride riceburners like us.

I like the sneaky way they put a suspension at the rear without compromising the look with shocks.  The seamless brightwork on the engine is pretty slick too.
