I recently scored a motor and 2 boxes of bits from a friend and today I found this cool jammie (technical term, sorry).
A vacuum gauge with valves for all 4 carbs made to mount on the regulator bracket of a CB. These pics are before my clean and restore of the piece.
Also... does the electrical bracket look like anyones stock set up? Quite different from my K8 and what I remember my K4 to look like. I am pretty sure the motor was set up for racing, and think the electrics bits might be for a Santee box or similar. Things in the motor are looking promising, other than cam and 3/4 cam holder being toast, I have a sneaking suspicion I am gonna find an 836 or bigger bore out when I hit the pistons this week

Very cool. Does it just give you the total reading of all 4 carbs or can you seperate/choose each individual carb
at the junction box to obtain a single reading from each?

It would give individual readings, the top has 4 thumb screws to open the carbs one at a time.
Dunno what would happen if you cracked all 4, I guess an average of the carbs would be achieved though I don't think it would be a good idea...

Would it make sense to rock one of these still, seems like a cool period piece...
any detrimental effects to having vacuum hoses on the carbs all the time?


OH YEAH.... what the heck do you people w/ PD41/42 carbs use for adapters for your sync gauges again?

Agreed. But it would be a nice easy way of checking how far your carbs were out of sync.
if there were really bad just pull the tubes from the junction box and hook them up to
your carbtune etc..

exactly....

and if your in the middle of bum-fuk you could take a quick peek at the built in gauge on the side of the road to check things out if she acts funny.

I am probably going to replace the gauge with a liquid filled one I picked up that's a little smaller and find a stealthy yet convenient spot to mount it.

Any input on whether having the hoses connected full time is a bad idea?

It cleaned up nice, i will get some pics of it when I figure out mounting and get adapters for the carbs...
I remember something about welding tips being used as adapters for the PD carbs... anyone know the size?

I can't see why, as long as it is airtight I.e the valves at the junction box are closed.
I have my spigots installed permanantly with a small peice of tubing attatched to each
one with a screw driver bit stuffed into the end of each one to blank it off.
So as long as no air is getting in there I would imagine it to be fine.
