spark plug wires welded stiff . . .

So I FINALLY get around to beginning the dewintrification of my 75 cb550k. Every winter it seems I forget to drain my carbs and I have a mess to clean in the spring. I take the carbs off to clean them out.

As I was tinkering with this and that I noticed that all my plug wires are stiff as a frozen corpse, and one of them has an obvious break in the conductor. The coils are the originals and it looks to me like the wires cannot be replaced without the coils.

The bike has always run well and Ive never noticed any indication of problems with the coils, new ones seem to cost over $100 . . .

Am I wrong or do I need to get some new coils?(dyna coils)?

*edit* havent tried starting it, cause the carbs are off and it needs a LOF.

The wires can be replaced. I have done it as well as others.

Yep - I just did this too and it worked well and was a simple job. Important to follow the advice re choice of solder....

PS: I recovered my coils using plastic-weld product.
