77 tank on a 76 (550)
« on: May 17, 2009, 02:08:53 PM »
Ok. So I want my 77 tank on my 76 550, I put it on and realized there are different petcocks and the sizes of where they are attached are different to, so I cant just switch.  I wanted to ride today so I was just going to put the 76 tank back on, however my dad threw away my fuel filter on accident.

So the problem is, the 77 petcock only has one spot to connect to the carbs with the hose, where as the 76 has two.

Anyone have a solution to the problem? Anyone know where to get a 1 into 2 hose?  Oh and if anyone would be kind enough to show me where to get another fuel filter for my 76 tank that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
M.R.

You should be able to get either a "T" connector or a "Y" connector and create a one into two hose solution.  I bet you could find one of those at your local hardware store.  Make sure it is sized appropriatly for your fuel line.

I'll be putting an older tank on my 77  550 and I need to go in reverse of what you have (2 petcock outputs to one carb input)

Thanks for the reply, I'll be off to my hardware store later today.

I actually tried to make my own 1 into 2 hose, It worked for a bit but I didn't really feel all that comfortable with the design, I just made it out of what I had lying around.

So a Y or T connector it is.
