Trying to identify this part from a 74 CB750 (K4)
« on: May 29, 2020, 04:56:49 PM »
Anybody know what this part is?  It came off of a 74 CB750 K4 and I'm concerned that it might be something that goes in the lower case.  Maybe some sort of oil deflector plate or something.  See, I tore this motor apart about 10 years ago, put it all back together but then never got around to finishing the project and getting it running.  Now I'm going to pick up where I left off, but I found this in a box of parts, so I'm concerned that I may have missed installing it when I re-assembled the engine.  Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sure someone here will know, but to me it looks more to be something to route cables/hoses.

I hope so, but it is just such a clean part (no rust, scratches etc.) that I'm thinking it could be an internal engine part (I hope not).

I have never seen that part anywhere on a pre 1977 CB750. Might just be something that got mixed in with your goodies.

I don't recognize that bracket off a 750.... I have a 74 stripped bare to the frame, it's not external and I just went through the parts fiches and didn't see that internally either.

That handy little bracket #2 on the back of the engine is for the carb overflow rubber tubes.

Definitely not a stock part. I had a slip-on muffler years ago that came with a bracket similar to yours (not a CB). Can't recall what it was for but it might have been to keep the kickstand from hitting the underside of the slip-on.
You only go around once in life so it might as well be on a motorcycle.

Thank you everyone for the help!  I really appreciate it and am relieved that its not something that's gonna require me to split the motor in half....again, haha!
