Carburetor Comparison
« on: May 20, 2009, 03:26:13 PM »
I have what looks like an F series motor with later carbs and I also have a set of early K carbs. Can anyone compare the two? Thanx,Joe

Hey, Joe.   Welcome to the forum.

A little more info would help us figure it out.   What is the # stamped on the motor (that will provide the engine model and year) and what is stamped on the carb bodies?

Tim,
Thanx for the reply. I'm just looking for a general comparison of the two. I'm getting conflicting feedback. Some mechanics prefer the older K series as they're supposed to be easier to tune and others like the 77-78 F 750 SuperSport carbs as the way to go. I'm at the crossroads. I have to clean either up,so I'm wondering which is a better wayor what the pros and cons are. I like the look of the F series but I'm a functionalist!

The accelerator pump and the high idle speed cam on the choke are refinements on the later carbs. All of them function well when tuned.
