78' CB 750 F Super sport
« on: May 20, 2009, 06:58:59 PM »
Found the ticking was actually a broken intake valve #3.  Does anyone know where to find intake valves for a '78 CB 750 F Super Sport?

Seems like I've been searching and those places that list them, are backordered indefinately!!!!

Sadly the F was known to have valve issues. I think a K head would fit.

Send the head to mreik for a port job and he will get valves and guides but i think they have to be a different stem diameter and no K valves wont fit but a complete K base gasket upwards will

Put an ad in the wanted section on this site.
I needed just an exhaust valve for the same bike as you have, and a member came through for me.
Gotta love people who come up with a $1,000 fix for a $20 problem.
If that fails these guy's have valves, but you have to buy a set of 4.

If that's your bike in the avatar, it's hard to tell from such a small picture, but either someone removed all the black paint from your motor or you already have a K motor. Check your engine number.

Here is a link to a timeline so you can look up what year motor you have on the bike . http://hondachopper.com/modifications.html
Make sure on the year before you do anything.

First off what to you mean a "broken" valve???? Bent? Destroyed tip? I think of a broken valve as the head coming off the stem. Measure the head diameter..32mm is a K and 34 is an F. If it is a K valve look at the keeper groove to see if it is late or early type.

The stem is broken.  No valve pieces into the cylinder.

I was able to locate another head and a gasket kit.  The folks here and at the two links below really helped me out!  I appreciate it.

So far about $210 in parts, I'll begin tearing it down tonight, doing some cleaning, and hopefully it all goes back together nicely.

Did you find out what year motor you have before ordering the parts? It's kinda important.
(I would not just assume that it's a '78 750F motor, based upon what it looks like in your avatar).

A new valve was never a $20 problem! Even when the bike was new they cost more than that + the gaskets + time etc etc

With the known problems the F2/3 has with the valves and guides it is not unreasonable, having no visual input and no history to think that all valves/guides will need work and suggest the best way to fix it permanently
