Installing the 550 cam tensioner?
« on: November 20, 2009, 03:21:39 PM »
I am in the midst of a 75 CB550 rebuild.  I am installing the cam tensioner and having difficulties.  The tension will not slip into the pocket in the bottom case.  Every time it slips past.  I noticed that the tensioner has a wear mark from rubbing the primary chain after being installed incorrectly from the PO.  Anyone have a trick to getting this thing in correctly?
Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, when removing the tensioner, and I don't know why, you have to raise the cylinders up just a bit about an inch or so before it will come out.   Like Clymer's says, installation is the reverse of removal.  Could this be your snag?

Edit: I thunk it first!!!
