what exhaust do I have.
« on: May 22, 2009, 09:19:22 AM »
I got a cb750 with a seized motor for 2 c-notes. A phone call to a friend and an iced americano later I was lowering the property values in my neighborhood with phrankenbike!

I got it home and out of curiousity followed Oliver's (from my Local shop Motofactory here in Portland Oregon) advice and shot some marvelous mystery oil into the cylinders and heated the motor with a a blow torch for fifteen minutes to "marinate the rings". Oliver said this would take days- so imagine my surprise when it turned after the first try!

So now having compression I figured I would see if it had any spark, so I turned the key and the dash lights came on, the horn sounded so I got a gallon of gas and low and behold it fired over. it doesnt stay running because the exhaust isnt hooked up and the points are shot, but it fires on all 4 cylinders which puts it a couple points ahead of me.

Now that it is a running bike- granted with a list of issues a mile long, I am loath to part it out, and my friend Carrie wants a bike but doesnt have much cash so we are working out a deal that will allow me to get the parts I need elsewhere....

So I am still working on the frankenbike. when I bought it the exhast was disconnected from head and the bolts are missing. It is the ugliest 4-1 I have ever seen... but hell it is the ugliest 750 I have ever seen so it fits. The collares and everything are all part of the system. The thing is that I cant seem to get the exhaust to fit into motor. when I try to line them up it feels like  trying to sit my size 15 foot into a size 10 shoe. Normally I would assume that it was hooked up and running but now I am not so sure. I am planning on ordering some exhaust bolts from BB and seeing if I can get the exhaust in.

hey Mark.
Cool. I hope Carrie wants it. Sure I will be short the parts, but it would suck to lose a running 34 yo bike to parts, and it sitting around I keep tinkering on it when I should be doing other more productive things.

I have some new plugs and points and a fresh charge in the battery. If i feel like procrastinate some more I will put them in.

be forwarned it is Ugly.

Hey there Mr. Mojo,
Any chance I can get over there this week before I head into a six day (i.e. long ass haul) drive at work Thursday... I'd like to start stroking my bike as soon as possible and hate to think that between your love of Kentucky and my crazy work and then your crazy work that it would be July before I get to tinker.

Any running cb750 is a sight for sore eyes. I really don't believe in frankenbikes..... they are just of a slightly different persuasion than stock bikes... ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's a thing of beauty to this girl... I've been wanting one since my 350f was traded out for another story... I think this dirty bike is nasty in a good way.

paint the tank? in the pic it looks nice and old-school to me.  can you give it a little wet sand?

...by the way,  i love that "you cant see me" stance your BC has. mine does the same thing behind bushes then jumps out to scare the #@$% out of me.

lets see some more pics of frankin-beauty!!!
don't take me too seriously.

The tank is sanded down right now.  I like primer black myself, but my brother is wanting to work his magic on it.  We'll see.  He and I will prolly talk about it a long time before we decide.  And about the dog... that's Mojo's collie.  My Australian Shepard hoped up on the bike last night when it was in the back of my truck.  He's already asking for asking for a pair of goggles.
