F1 Exhaust / Muffler overhaul ?
« on: May 22, 2009, 03:34:41 PM »
Hi, I have an original Honda F1 Muffler /Exhaust.  The chrome is excellent & it was removed from the bike quite early on in it's life & replaced with an original Paul Dunstall exhaust.

I have the original pipes too, which are 7/10 for condition. the bike currently has a Motad after-market system on.

I'd like to put the original pipes & can back.  Inside - from the engine end, the can is good, light atmosphere induced rusting, no "rot".
From the 'exit' end, the more finely perforated tube is fairly corroded - soft, in fact, in places, but still there !

As far as I can seem, from checking the Parts Fiche, unlike some other models the F1 muffler has no servicable internal 'end tube' ?  It seems a crying shame to not use the can.  Has anyone any experience of overlaying or cutting out & re-rigging the internal perforated pipe ( or just running it to / past destruction? ).  I'd grade it about 5/10 - or better, in terms of degrading at the moment.  I don't want to make it worse un-necessarily, or ruin what life is left in it by hacking it about or reducing it's effectiveness.

Or is it servicable & I'm just missing how ?

cheers
