Ill sort that out at some point. The problem is that nobody makes a brace for the 550 so it has to be custom.

takt's price for a custom 550 brace is about the same as the off the shelf stuff. He did the one on my 550, worth contacting him.

~~Another thing i have noticed is that the front wheel is not centered in the forks. Is that normal? its offset to the left side of the bike. To the right in the picture.~~

Im an idiot, i dont have the axle bolted on all the way so the wheel is not sitting straight. Scared me for a second.

After much confusion my 2.50x18 rim is on its way and should be on my door step tomorrow. Should have it laced up by the end of the weekend and then the bike will be a roller again.

i would turn #4 air screw out 1/4 turn
remember these carbs are real sensitive to rust any rust will cause the needles not to shut off and will flood out that cylinder usually one of the inside two since they get fuel first and act like a trap for the rust
open the drain screw in the bottom of the float bowl even a particle of rust and you should take the plug out of the bowl completely and spray carb clean in try it and if it is still flooding out take the bowl off and clean it thoroughly (I use a small wire cup brush on a dremel)
also put a new fuel filter on and clean the one in the tank if you still have the little brass screen
always run this bike with a fuel filter it will save you a lot of headaches and don't let the filter touch the head it will boil the gas in it and vapor lock your bike

Thanks, not really sure what post your replying to but I have got a pretty good handle on adjusting carbs now. cleaned and adjusted my fair share now.

Got the rear wheel trued to .02" Not Bad. Just need to get the wheel on it. What a mess it was to get the correct size rim to my house. Still have the 2.15x 18 if anybody wants it. $215 rim and ill sell it for less.

Wheels on. Now to sort out the seat pan and mounting the seat. I also need to find a better way to support the back of the tank.

Coming together nicely ffj.

The Yamaha TZ's use a short rubber strap that hooks to the frame & tank. You would need to have a hook (alloy 'U' about 2" long) welded to the tank though, and a steel one to the frame. The straps are readily available. You could also add some frame rail tank cushions at the back, for the tank to rest on. They would also fill the current gap.

As for the seat, check out bwaller's method - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=83871.0 - reply #22. You could also reverse it so the seat hooks in at the front, and bolts at the back.
