Nice plans for the 350.. I would imagine some one out there has done a hard tail 350 before. Maybe it would not be so bad being a twin and all. I had not noticed it in the pictures until I looked very closely at them but, yea it seems to be off just a bit. Good eye..

Thanks HeadNut. ;D

Zap, i have seen a few 350 hardtails. The halfast guys did one. But most of the hardtails i have seen were built out of sl350 because the backbone is 1 solid tube. the CB, and CL are a stamped and welded piece so its harder to modify. I did see 1 guy do a hartail frame on a CB. He did a real nice job but when it was done he said he would never do one again it was such a PIA. So ill pass on this one.

Recieved some news today from my tank guy. Hes feeling better and had made progress on my seat. Unfortunately we had a miscommunication. When i said i wanted the seat to match the tank they did exactly that. Including the knee dents.  :( so i emailed him and hopefully he can bang those out.

The picture is not my frame so that why it doesnt fit right.

FFJ - I like it with the dents. That is the first time I have seen one with them. Different is good, you are taking your time and spending your $$ on a custom bike, dont have the guy make the bump look like everyone elses. (I will sit down now)

I hear ya FB but it was more then just the dents. The seat was square. It did not follow the shape of the rear hoop as you can see in the picture. I dont know though. I just dont think i care for the dents. I mean come on Knee dents in the seat. Unless you plan on riding backwards its kinda weird. And come on FB how many people have you really seen with this bum stop.  ;D ;D Plus dented cafe seats have been done.

But as always i appreciate any input. It helps me to see things from other perspectives.

That 'arse dented' cafe seat on the Guzzi looks killer!

Sorry to hear they squared it on you... them darned squares.  But to be completely honest.... no holds barred.... I'm going to jump on board with Franken' and say that I really dig your dented seat.   As long as it flows with your tank... I deem it "badazz"

It may have looked good, but the image of the bike that i have dwelled on in my head for so long did not have a dented seat, so when i get emailed one that does I didnt like it. Now it could look cool. Id have to see it with the tank, on the bike to make an informed decision but im not going to pay $$ on a gamble like that. If you want it I think he might sell it on EBAY.

Hey man follow your instinct on the seat.  it has to please you in the end.  I liked it too, but I think it is because I loved the Bevel Drive Duc SS seats so much (pictured above).  And a 350 hard tail can be done.  I just finished a frame for a buddy of mine using a 350 donor.  I had to cut out all of the stock stamped steel, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Turned out good I think....

Sorry for the hijack, just wanted to show ya it can be done!

Looking for input on rims. They are going to be aluminum but what width? Seems to me that 2.50 in the back and 2.15 in the front is standard.

I was going to build my own 2-1 exhaust for this bike but i dont think i have the skills yet to pull off a pair nice enough for this bike. So im considering going with benjies. Ouch! but they are so nice. I want to drop the bike off at his place in LA to be sure they fit right but im not sure if that is where he builds them.

Anybody watching, what are your thoughts on front fenders and fork braces? Im not sure what im going to do for a front tire cover. Im pretty sure im going to have a fork brace made but not sure if ill run a front fender or not.

Im getting frustrated not having my seat. It puts a huge hold on almost everything, so im going to try and focus on the front end and get the brakes and front end wiring squared away. i think im going to run all my iring through this kind of sleve to keep it clean. How about Pink?

If you don't mind me backing up to these old questions, can you tell me where you found those various colors of wire sleeve?  I have planned to use clear shrink fit for my wiring, but I do like those sleeves and I could work them in with the planned color scheme for the bike overall.

As to the second question, about a fender, what I plan to do is of no interest here at all, for your bike I would definitely go with a small fender that continued with the superb bodywork you've got in your tank and seat-section.  Really, the other sheet metal you're using is astoundingly pleasing to the eye that it would just be a monkey-beating shame to quit now.  Simple but sweet but proportionally do not let the fender become the centerpiece, let it instead draw one's eye to the overall flow of the bike.  A little hard to put to word, but you have the eye of an artist - you'll pull it off.

thanks for the compliment Kong. Still havent found anything on the fender. Its pretty far down the line for me. Current focus is on exhaust, wheels and getting the seat so i can wire up the bike. Im selling off all my extra parts so that i may be able to get a set of pipes from benjie. Im a little worried because of all the negative feedback he has been receiving. I also need to sell my 750 but it needs a fresh coat of paint to make it presentable.

Emailed benjie. He didn't seem care that I could bring my bike to the shop in LA for him to fit the exhaust to. He seemed to think he could build a set without having it there. I call bull $hit. If I pay that kind of cash I want to know the pipes are going fit perfect and at this point I have no confidence in his product. So I put in a call to chris who is building the 550 pipes and I think I may be giving him my bike to build a set of 2-1. I think that looks the best on this bike. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?
I haven't bought anything from BCR, but they do make and sell a bunch of exhaust systems for CB's and other bikes.  Is it hard to imagine that they've got the jigs that they need to make up pipes that fit?  Are their exhausts known to be difficult to fit?

My main issue woukd be the location of the rear mounting points to my rearsets. Also I want the pipes to sit sug to the rearsets. That would be difficult to do without having the bike there.
