I just put a 130/90/18 on my '78 750F.
It's REALLY close to rubbing the rear caliper support arm... I thought it might even be rubbing a touch, so I slid a piece of paper that I had folded between them to test it. No rubbing but that's how close it was. :o
It handles good to me but what do I know... it had a worn out tire on it to begin with! Anything would handle good after that.

I too am running a 130/90/18 on my '78 750F.  I was assured by the shop that bigger won't fit.  Adjusting the chain is pretty simple since too much play one way or the other puts the tire into the swing arm.
