need help with pricing my 79 650
« on: June 02, 2009, 08:39:49 PM »
ok guys ive got a 1979 cb650 that i have put some time money and a whole lot of effort into, and i am looking at selling it sometime soon. i have gotten very #$%*ty offers for it like 700-1000 for it, and 1000 is what i paid for the bike and it ran like #$%*. i have rebuilt the carbs and put a soos oil filter conversion on, new forks, new seat, along with a new dash, i made the mileage on the new speedo exactly the mileage was on the old one (no problems with the odometer just the speedo wasnt reading correctly the neede was warped) and everything is good. i dyno tested it at my school and it ran like a top and it had a intake leak. so it runs a whole helluva lot better with the new boots. gets up to speed fine, i spent 3 days detailing and cleaning the bike once i got home from phoenix, and still get the crappy offers but very good compliments from people and i got a offer from a local honda dealership owner for 800 and i told him i cant after alll that i have done to it. so if you guys here with your infinite wisdom please help me out with a good and reasonable price. the only body damage is there is a tiny dent on the tank towards the rear on the right side, and the clearcoat on the side covers and right side of the tank are peeling away. it is stored inside everyday and doesnt see rain ever.

I bought my 79 650 for $700 and have spent around $2600 on it in various ways, no one would get it for under $3500 kiwi, not sure how much that is US but it seems you are getting some seriously low offers.
The 650 is however the ginga haired unwanted love child of the SOHC4 range so maybe it's just that.

Oh yeah...just out of interest, my exhaust pipes system came all the way from Texas...they say Hi. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
