lowering a cb350
« on: May 28, 2009, 09:14:21 PM »
hey guys, im sorry for asking this same question that probably has been beaten to death, however i couldnt find the info i was looking for.

Anyway my 1970 cb350 did NOT come with the triple tree that has bolts that i can loosen and slide the forks up. In on other words there is no other way to lower the front end but to cut the springs, so i was wondering if that is a safe thing to do? and how much can i cut them? if I cut them more then say an 1" would i run the risk of bottoming my front end out. If not what is the max i can cut off the front springs?

As for the rear I tried taking apart the shocks but it doesnt look like they can be taken apart. So i was wondering if I could use shocks from a different model, that already has shorter shocks. would a newer honda rebel work? any other suggestions? if not. whats a good place to buy shorter shocks for a cb350?

Thanks for the help
  -Pete

**bump**

yes,you can cut the springs in  the front fork, but you don't want to do much more then an inch...i think you can also get stiffer springs for it,not sure myself, some one will fill in here...

for the rear, you can either get lowering blocks, they mount to the stock location on your swing arm and move the shocks back about an inch and a halve or you can get shorter shocks,11 inch shocks i believe....

more people will jump in for more info....
Marti, I want you to know, I like you an awful lot, but guys have said far less and left wearing their drinks on their shirts.

I'm not sure if those forks are constructed the same as more modern ones, but you could make a spacer to install under the top out spring. Here is a link to this mod on a more(not much) modern bike.

hey, thanks for the info guys, Martino, the stiffer springs up front is a great idea, as for the lowering blocks do you know where I can get a set?
As for the spacer, i've heard of people doing this, however my forks only have one set of springs so i dont think that would work, but thanks for the input though
 thank

I took a set of lowering blocks off my 400F after I got it.  I sent them to shoemanII but he wasn't sure he'd end up using them.  You can send him a message and if he didn't use them he'll probably give them to ya.
