Well, I was successful in making a baffle/mini muffler for the 750K7. The bike sounds awesome. I'll post a picture of what I did and a sound clip as soon as my computer is back from being repaired.

One question on jetting:

Im running pods and the exhaust is a Mac 4-1. Bike ran perfect in all throttle ranges before opening up the baffle ( light tan plugs) and now the exhaust is flowing a lot more than before, and my WOT position has seemed to weakened. Good power from start to about 3/4, then no power. Im thinking now I may need to put a larger main in. Havent done a plug chop yet, but does more exhaust flow require a larger main?

I have a great sound and not too loud either. Definitely louder, but 4 times deeper. I just ordered a few different main jets. Im sure a size up or two will work fine.

Oh no, you didn't buy it from Best Buy did you? Their service sucks and they'll try to tell you your machine is virused up just to get more money out of you...

Nah, my HP is having a video problem and it's covered under warranty. I sent it to them on the 26th and they sent it back out today. That's some decent service.

Im really surprised how nice the bike sounds. I had no idea what it was going to sound like with my baffle system. You guys are gonna poop a brick when you see it.

I'm anxious to hear the sound of it. I never liked the MAC exhausts; mostly because of that tinny, buzzing sound they have. I had one on an old nighthawk 750 (83). I pulled the baffle out of it once just to see if I could fix it or something. Had I known then what I know know, I would have done just what you're doing. There is only room for improvement.

Word. I've pulled my Mac baffle and drilled more holes in it, wrapped some Fiberglas aroun it, drilled more holes, pulled out the glas and still no bueno...only thing I haven't done is the stainless scrubbies, but I am interested to see/hear this.

Yeah, I didnt use the Mac muffler at all and made my own mini muffler out of an exhaust tip. I didnt want to screw with the Mac muffler, afraid I'd make it worse. So I built one from scratch.

I'll post pictures and a video clip this week. Promise.

Here's the baffle.

Started with this (inside of the exhaust tip (mini muffler):

Found this exhaust pipe connector and cut it down to fit inside the muffler and so the muffler will fit snug over the exhaust pipe.

Like this:

Baffle time. I used a headlight ear from a 1972 CB350. Drilled random holes in it. The more holes, the quieter the muffler will be. I jb welded a soup can bottom to the end of it. This will keep the packing inside the muffler.

To secure the baffle to the inside of the muffler, I used self tapping screws through the end of the muffler and into the soup can part. I packed the outside of the baffle with steel wool and used another soup can bottom to seal up the other end of the baffle.

I'll post a video clip of the bike running as soon as my computer is up and running. So far, I've got nothing but compliments on the sound.

I saw the pic of the baffle end and thought, "wow I wonder what he made that out of?" Then I read down and thought, "holy crap that's a good trick!"
it might not last through the second season, but who knows? Maybe heat it up and spray some VHT paint inside and out to seal the surface of all that thin steel?

Very cool, can't wait to hear it.

Thanks and yeah, who knows how long it'll last. Cool thing is there's not much to it and can build something heavier duty later on.

dig. yeah, i've admired that tip and similar ones in the toy store. if it were me, i wouldn't trust the clamp enough. i'd want a screw or bolt-and-nut thru the collector and the tip. a discreet one on the left/inboard side... of course, my current design incorporates a shower drain and a wingnut, so, caveat erector....

As far as holding the muffler to the exhaust pipe, the clamp works really well. It's on there tight!

The baffle is screwed in and secured from the outside, but I was able to access the part of the muffler through the back. In the first picture looking into the pipe, you can see what is actually welded to the muffler on the inside. I secured the soup can part of the baffle to this. It's not goin' anywhere.
