I built a homemade manometer, adjusted carbs and its running great, except now I'm getting a funny noise intermittently. It started just after I synced the carbs with the homemade manometer. I don't have the money to buy one, but I can pay to rent one, for a small fee of course.

Anyone know if shops rent them out?

Or anyone have one and live in SE michigan, and will help a fellow rider out? (borrow or rent)

Thanks

I'm thinking of building one too, where did you get the specs from?
If it worked it probably isn't your carbs, re adjust your cam chain, sometimes when you cure one think the next noisiest seems loud....just had this happen to me....check your cam adjustment. ;)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

I looked on the site here for the how to. I read close to all of the posts from people who did build them. I used welder tips as "restricters" and bought the adapters from california sport touring. There was bubbles in the lines, but it was easy to see where the level was. I fiddled around for 20 minutes and got it damn close. They appear to be synced nice, but I don't know for sure. It idles very smooth now, at about 1000, which it never did before; didn't like anything less than 13 - 1500 before.

I already adjusted the cam chain per the manual, 15 degrees past TDC, loosen bolt, tighten bolt. I really don't know if it adjusted though, well it cannot hurt to do it again, right?

There is a spot for a screw driver where the bolt for the cam chain connects, am I supposed to turn this? I thought this was going to be for removal, but I could be wrong.

Thanks

Has your bike got the cam chain adjuster where there is a nut surrounding a slotted thread?
If so you loosen the nut a tad then back the slotted thread back a wee bit, this releases the can chain tensioner, then retighten the slotted thread back in and lock it with the nut, well that's how I would do it but it's been a while since I did one of those slotted cam adjusters so maybe see what the 550 boys recommend.
