Enlighten me, oh great ones! C750F3 rear master cylinder
« on: May 29, 2009, 12:47:55 PM »
So I need a rebuild kit and a push rod.  There is a listing on Ebay for a '79 and on rear master kit that includes the pushrod and there is a listing for the '78 that doesn't include the pushrod.  They are actually around the same price.  My question is whether or not the rear masters are the same diameter and length between the two bikes.  I know they share the same caliper and the reservoir attachment is different but are the internals the same?  If they are I can save a lot of frustration of ordering from HDL and getting all of my parts from one source.  Let the replies fly like the kings arrows.

I suppose that there is a deficit of guys here who swing both ways.  I.E. work on both SOHC and DOHC and have the information I need.  I guess that I'll be that guy.

How bad is the pushrod?  Mine was rusted all to hell with the snap ring rusted to it, but I was able to get the snap ring out and wire brush the pushrod clean and it still works.  The washer looked like crap, but It doesn't have to seal.  The washer just retains the pushrod and thats under spring pressure.  You cant find the '78 pushrod.  I tried and failed.  so I just used the old one.

The push rod push rodded it's way past the rusty washer.  That's how bad it is.  I might get to fabricating something soon.

When I ordered a rebuild kit for my F1 the push rod and rubber boot were included.  This was an OEM kit from an online Honda dealer and not some cheaper Ebay generic knock off.  I think it was $37.  I believe the pushrod is the same for the 75-78F models.  They do not seem to be available as a separate item but the part number is the same on BikeBandit.  Different part number for the DOHC so it may not be the same.
